Hot Shop Newbie Night is designed for non-members and students interested in working in a fun, supervised hot shop environment. A studio supervisor is available to provide guidance and support, but Newbie Night is intended as non-instructional practice time rather than formal teaching.

Eligibility Requirements
Participants must have prior glassblowing experience. Eligible experience includes completion of one of the following:

2 × Glassblowing 6-Week Courses
(36 hours of group instruction)

OR

1 × Glassblowing 6-Week Course
+ 1 × Intro to Glassblowing Weekend Workshop
+ 1 × Private Lesson
(30 hours group instruction + 4 hours one-on-one instruction)

OR

4 × Private Lessons
(16 hours one-on-one instruction)

OR

Equivalent experience from another studio (Please contact us to discuss your experience and options.)

Please note: group instruction and one-on-one instruction are calculated differently to reflect active bench working time.

Studio Guidelines

  • Do not work under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you appear intoxicated, the Newbie Night supervisor will ask you to stop working.
  • Two benches are available each Newbie Night.
  • Participants must work in teams of two per bench and are responsible for arranging their own partners.
  • If a bench is not fully booked with a minimum of two students, the slot will be opened for rentals five (5) days prior to the scheduled Newbie Night date.

Booking & Fees

Cost: $356.00 + GST per bench (shared and paid individually by each student $178 + GST)

Booking and payment are required in advance.

If your bench is cancelled due to only one registered participant, you will be issued a refund at the five-day deadline.
