Instructor: Jaan Andres
In this intermediate level class, students will learn how to pull cane using a traditional teamwork approach. On the first day, students will focus entirely on learning how to pull single-colour straight cane. On the second day, students will use their cane to create vessels, using collar and bubble roll-up methods. Students are welcome to bring their own colour, and will divide up the remaining cane for use in their own practice
Students must have taken at least one class in glassblowing (Weekend Workshop or 6 Week Course). If you are unsure if you have the prerequisite skills for this class, please email us at info@terminalcityglass.com.
Age 16+. Materials and colour included.
(Though students are encouraged to bring their own colours. Students will divide the remaining canes and colour at the end of the class for use in their own practice.)
About the Instructor
Born in Ontario, Canada in 1985, Jaan Andres Poldaas began making glass at the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2004, receiving a BFA and the ACAD Board of Governors awards for glass in 2007. Andres has trained, exhibited and taught internationally in Australia, China and the United States. He currently lives and works as a glass artist in Vancouver British Columbia.
