This class is all about diving into the world of glass sculpture and building your skills in a fun, hands-on way. You’ll learn foundational techniques for creating sculptural elements and assembling multiple components into a finished piece.
We’ll get you comfortable working with the Garage and exploring how to build and attach forms, bringing your ideas to life step by step. Expect lots of time using shears and shaping tools as you refine and develop your work!
You’ll also explore colour application, bit work, using the ranger torch, team coordination, and time management in a hot shop environment.
By the end of the class, you’ll use these techniques to create your own unique sculptural piece—designed around your individual skill level and experience.
All materials are included.
Age 16+.
Level: *Advanced Beginner - Intermediate
Prerequisites:
*You must be a confident beginner (graduated from Hot Shop Newbie level) and be proficient in gathering, punties, forming a bubble, using shears, and creating basic forms.

About the Instructors
Laura Burns is a graduate of Emily Carr University and has been working in glass since 1999, and has been teaching glassblowing since 2001. She has also studied glassblowing and glass sculpture at Red Deer College.
Heather Konschuh is a graduate of Alberta College of Art and Design and has also studied glass at the Australian National University. She has taught at Anthony Stern Glass in London, UK, and the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga Ontario.
