Created live during our Pride (Big Gay Day) celebration by artists of Terminal City Glass Co-op (TCGC), Claire Anderson, Maria Struck, Scott McDougall, Hope Forstenzer, Karen Cunningham, this one-of-a-kind glass sculpture reclaims one of history's most recognized symbols of protest to tell a story of courage, solidarity, and hope.
The bottle is formed in the colours of the Trans Pride Flag, recognizing our trans community members who continue to face disproportionate discrimination, violence, and attacks on their rights. The rainbow flame and cloth represent the broader 2SLGBTQIA+ community—our shared diversity, resilience, and unwavering commitment to one another.
This piece is not a celebration of violence. Rather, it symbolizes the reality that progress has never come without people standing together, raising their voices, and demanding equality. From the early acts of resistance that sparked the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement to the advocacy that continues today, this sculpture honours those who have fought—and those who continue to fight—for dignity, safety, visibility, and human rights.
Handcrafted in molten glass before a live audience, no two pieces can ever be the same. The unpredictable nature of hot glass ensures this artwork is truly one of a kind, capturing a single moment in time and the collective energy of the artists who created it.
100% of proceeds from this silent auction support the artists, educational programs, and community initiatives of Terminal City Glass Co-op, helping us make the glass arts more accessible while fostering creativity, inclusion, and connection.
Please Note: This sculpture is created live during the glassbowing demonstration during our Big Gay Day event. While every effort is made to complete the piece successfully, glass is an unpredictable medium. In the unlikely event the artwork is damaged during creation, TCGC reserves the right to substitute it with another one-of-a-kind artwork created by TCGC artist(s). The winning bid will be contacted by TCGC and invoiced directly for the bid amount plus any applicable shipping charges.

Tax Receipt Disclaimer: The winning bid represents the purchase of artwork through a fundraising silent auction. No charitable tax receipt will be issued for any portion of the purchase price.
